This is a port of AwOken icon theme on KDE desktop environment. It has all the features provided by AwOken iconset, i.e. a script that lets you to choose between a lot of cool customization options (see the README PDF file for further info). The only differences are in the customization script, so please feel free to report any bug you'd find.

Before asking, if you have any problem, run at least once the customization script, and TAKE A LOOK AT THE README FILE!!!

QUICK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS -> You can choose between:
  • PPA modality for debian-based distro (lucid-natty-oneiric):

    1. Type in a terminal window:

      1. sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alecive/antigone

      2. sudo apt-get update

      3. sudo apt-get install kawoken-icon-theme

      4. kawoken-icon-theme-customization

    2. Follow Instructions

    • WARNING: with ppa subscription you can always get the newest version on your machine. But to see the improvements, you have to configure (or re-configure) at least once the iconset either for clear version, or dark version, or even a colored one.

  • DeviantArt download modality:

    1. Download the archive from the top-right button.
      Extract the archive you downloaded, then System Settings -> Application Appearance -> Icons and click the Install Theme File button. Then, click the "Open file dialog" button on the right of the location text entry, select the kAwOken.tar.gz file you just extracted, and click the "Ok" button. You have to iterate this procedure both for the kAwOkenDark.tar.gz archive, and the kAwOkenWhite.tar.gz archive.

    2. Open a terminal/konsole (or whatever you prefer) and type:

      1. cd `kde4-config --localprefix`/share/icons

      2. sudo chmod +x kAwOken*/kawoken-icon-theme-customization*

      3. sudo cp -p kAwOken*/kawoken-icon-theme-customization* /usr/bin

      4. kawoken-icon-theme-customization

    3. Follow Instructions

RECOMMENDED PACKAGES

To exploit full power of customization script, you need zenity (optional, used to see the GUI - in a next future I'll port all the script to kdialog) and imagemagick (mandatory, used to color icons). If you use Debian-based distro, they're in repositories.

CHANGELOG FOR 1.2 VERSION

  • Added AWOKEN folders! Now the set is integrated with the most cool and stylish folders ever!

  • Drastic revision of mimetypes: now they use a different template icon (modified from Elementary icon set), and they're more refined in 24x24 version!

  • Most of the 22x22 actions icons that have characterized the latest versions have been brought to 24x24px and 128x128px resolutions. So the iconset become cleaner, cooler and more integrated! Consequently, also some status icons are changed.

  • Mail icons redrawed (both in bigger and in lower resolution). Now your favourite email client's toolbar (except thunderbird) works like a charm!

  • Added ppa for precise.

  • Drastic revision of the colorization script: now is faster, cleaner and supports parallel processing. This lead to a serious improvement on latest multi-core machines, but also on elder computers. Another big improvement is related to the fact that is now accepting RGB colors instead of CMY colors!

  • Revision of the Installation and Instructions PDF file.

  • Removed gedit choice from the customization script (it's useless having the possibility to change only one icon!).

  • Removed some folder sub-types, since the iconset is became too big. They are classy-yellow, classy-carboard, classy-white, classy-black. For the same reason, removed (from other folder types) folder-joomla, folder-wip, folder-science2, folder-windows, folder-apple, folder-ffw, folder-byte, folder-cd, folder-fonts, folder-linux1, folder-linux2, folder-public, folder-important.

  • Application added (or redrawed): accessories-text-editor-symbolic, document-open-symbolic, network-wired-disconnected, ubuntuone emblems, gtk-zoom-100 in 22x22px, jdownloader, gwibber, mail-message-new, mail-forward, mail-outbox, mail-mark-important (-junk, -notjunk, -unread, -spam), mail-reply, mail-reply-all, mail-move, edit-delete-mail, extract-archive, add-files-to-archive, add-folder-to-archive, gnome-pie, gelemental, luminance-hdr, application-x-mint, grooveshark, mintinstall, addressbook icons, call-start, call-stop, fillmore, gpick, gftp, batti, marlin, kompozer, preferences-desktop, preferences-system, preferences-desktop-personal, mime for video, midori, djvulibre, plank, fontforge, ffanvil, general settings icons, kupfer, acetoneiso, videoporama, beatbox, nvclock, cryptkeeper, bino, isomaster (I hope), gpixpod, graveman, gshutdown, ogmrip, billardgl, foobillard, fedora live usb, mp3-splt-gtk, yarock, scim-setup, application-fonts, mono-runtime, gnome-settings-default-applications, nitrogen, musique

Ciao! Musique dovrebbe essere già disponibile dalla prossima versione, quindi quando la scaricherai dimmi se te lo trovi applicato.

Per quanto riguarda copy, purtroppo non c'è modo di cambiare la sua icona. Ho scaricato i sorgenti ed ho visto che al suo interno non c'è alcuna icona! Probabilmente le icone sono embedded nel codice sorgente, quindi ogni mio sforzo sarebbe vano, mi dispiace :(

It's quite a huge list! Here is my answer. I would like you to help me in answering my questions, because otherwise I'll not be able to draw the icons.

  • Icons that will be done without any problem: steam,dolphin-emu, p7zip, winegame, ktnef (I'll use the usual archive icon), nmapsi4, kscd (it will be the cd-audio icon)

  • playonlinux is already done and available. Why do you have problems with it?

  • On KDE systray icons are handled by the plasma theme (and not the icon theme), so it's not my fault. Btw, this behavior sucks: it's completely stupid.

  • Skype doesn't render correctly because probably it's the gtk application rendered on KDE. And KDE sucks in rendering gtk applications (for example, also firefox doesn't work as far as I know). So it's kde's fault, not mine. The same applies to the systray icon. But this is skype's fault :)

  • What is "find files and folders" icon? Can you share a screenshot?

  • Regarding the mimetypes: I'm not able to find the correct name of a mimetype icon from its extension. I'd rather need the application that uses it (in order to be able to find the name that such an app uses).

  • Icons with problems:
    • pac manager is a remote desktop viewer or rather a ssh interface ? Would you like me to use the usual remote desktop viewer icon or an ethernet plug icon? I would rather prefer the first one, in order to be consistent with the overall style of the iconset.

    • pycharm doesn't have a .desktop application, thus its icon cannot be changed (it's bundled in the executable, so there's no way to change it). The same is for qgit, smartgithd and kwikdisk. There's no way to change them, so I'll not draw the icon.

    • teamviewer is a completely different matter: its icon is hard-coded in the .desktop file (it points to /opt/teamviewer8/tv_bin/desktop/teamviewer.png ), thus it forces itself to use its own icon instead of the custom icon that, by the way, I already did.

    • linphone is somehow in the between (it points to @prefix@/share/pixmaps/linphone/linphone.png that is not standard) but I'll draw the icon and I'll let you find if the icon is changed. The same applies to virt-manager and twinkle.

    • zenmap: I wasn't able to find a package to download. Can you provide it for me?

Pac Manager is like Putty in Windows, it manages ssh, vnc and rdp, the icon is a globe world, so you can use an icon like remmina or KRDC I guess...

I know it's a shame, and I'm sorry for it. The only thing you can do is to contact the developers of the apps and then ask them to create a more "standard" app with standard icon handling. Or point them to me in order for me to teach them! :)

epub is electronic book and is opening with okular
odp is libreoffice suite (Impress)
srt could be same as txt
cue could be same as iso (it opens with k3b)

I know what epub odp srt etc are, but I need to know the name of the icon, otherwise they will never be changed by my iconset!

You have to dig into /usr/share/icons, find the icons related to the mimetypes you asked and then tell me their exact name :)
